La crypte. Cette crypte que lon appelait anciennement la grotte ou léglise primitive,était lancien temple de Nivelles au temps de sa patronne ; elle a la formedune basilique divisée en trois nefs par deux rangées de piliers carrés etcouverte dune voûte darête surbaissée, avec arcs doubleaux et formerets. * Les chapiteaux qui reçoivent les retombées de cette voûte consistent enun abaque, composé dune plinthe reposant sur un filet de retraite qui lasépare dun chanfrein. Labside sert demplacement à un autel, dont la pierre consacrée est demême espèce et a les mêmes moulures que les chapiteaux. La nef principalea, entre piliers, 3 13 de largeur; les autres nont que 2i70. Elles sontéclairées par une petite baie à lorient et comptent trois travées inégalementespacées. Des fouilles exécutées il y a une dizaine dannées ont montré quela crypte avait primitivement deux entrées, lune à gauche, lautre à droite.Vers langle S.E. de la crypte, on remarque un puits alim
