Français : Le buste de Juba II (roi berbère soumis à Rome qui a régné au Maroc de 25 av. J.-C. à 23 ap. J.-C) a été découvert en 1944. Il se trouvait primitivement, comme le buste de Caton, dans la maison à la mosaïque de Vénus, sur un piédestal de briques stuquées. Œuvre de propagande
volontairement idéalisée, ce portrait est peut-être réalisé en Egypte à l’occasion de l’avènement du jeune roi ou de son mariage avec la princesse Lagide Cléopâtre Séléné, fille d’Antoine et de la grande Cléopâtre. Pour raconter son histoire, cette vidéo mets en scène les grandes lignes de la vie du roi Juba II. |
