Conocemos las poesías de éstospor un libro publicado en 1634 por el hijo de Lupercio cuando habían yamuerto su padre y su tío. Declara el editor que su padre había roto y que-mado casi todos sus manuscritos, y que tanto éste como su tío miraban (1) Obras de Francisco de Figueroa, laureado Pindaro español (1625). Contiene esta colección 53 so-netos, cuatro canciones, cinco elegías, una égloga, un madrigal y un epitafio. La segunda edición (1628) tieneotros tres sonetos, una elegía y dos glosas, y ha sido reproducida en facsímil por Huntington (NuevaYork, 1903). Lupercio nació en 1553, y fué sucesivamente secretario del duque deVillahermosa, de la emperatriz viuda doña María de Austria y del virrey deÑapóles, conde de Lemos. Según ya se ha dicho (V. 41) algunos suponenque la influencia de Lupercio con el Conde, fué mala para Cervantes; nohay datos para sospecharlo. Bartolomé, un año menor que su hermano,perteneció al estado eclesiástico; fué rector de Villahermosa, capellán de laEmperatriz, y por último canónigo de Zaragoza. Lupercio murió en 1613,y Bartolomé en 1633. Como poetas se parecen muchísimo.
