Description

La grotte de Pak Ou est composée de deux anfractuosités : Tham Theung : le grotte du haut et Tham Loum : la grotte du bas.

C'est depuis toujours un lieu de dévotion, dédié aux génies et aux esprits. Elle abrite selon la légende Fa Ngum, un des nagas protecteurs de Luang Prabang.

Le culte bouddhiste y aurait été établi en 1547 par le Roi Saya Setthathirath.
