English: Informs Sherman that he would like to have the clerical services of Mr. Gannett, but cannot give him employment without discharging someone else.



Transcription:

By an order from the Quarter-Master General the number of my Clerks is limited and is now full. I would like to have the services of Mr Gannett as I need more clerical force but I cannot give him employment without discharging some one else_
