Shortly afterward he was placedin command of a detachment of twenty men at Pico- \lata, on the St. Johns River. He remained thereonly a few months, having been ordered on dutywhich took him to Pensacola. Thence he was sentto Fort Morgan, Mobile Point. He was now quartermaster and commissary.
