Messier 51 Team Hi-res 2016 Credits (in alphabetical order): Marco Cianci, Roberto Coleschi, Giuseppe Donatiello, Alessandro Falesiedi, Marco Favuzzi, Rolando Ligustri, Andrea Pistocchini, Bert Scheuneman, Tim Stone.

RA center: 202.481° DEC center: 47.225° Messier 51 also called The Whirlpool Galaxy (NGC 5194) is an interacting spiral galaxy in the constellation Canes Venatici. It was the first to be classified as a spiral galaxy. It is estimated to be 23 ± 4 million light-years from us.
