| Description |
Nederlands: Een kinderengel zit op de rand van Jezus’ graftombe. Het engeltje is gekleed in een albe, het traditionele ondergewaad van katholieke geestelijken. Tot de vijftiende eeuw dragen engelen in de beeldende kunst meestal dit lange, witte gewaad. De puntige, groene vleugels van dit engeltje vallen op. Ze zijn slank, spits en veren pieken naar buiten. De engel houdt de lijkwade omhoog en toont zo het bewijsstuk van Jezus’ opstanding.
Vanaf het begin van de vijftiende eeuw komen kinderengelen voor op kunstwerken. Zij staan symbool voor zuiverheid en vroomheid. |
