DescriptionMacDonald's column at Wagram.tiff | General MacDonald's Great Column, formed arround midday on the May 6th 1809 at the battle of Wagram. Its purpose was to attack the Austrian line and to prevent them from sending reinforcements to their weak left flank. The column is composed of a frontage made of 4 battalions deployed in line, immediately followed by another 4 battalions deployed in line, followed by 16 battalions in column, 8 behind each of the flanks of the battalions in line (see picture).
