English: Royal Red Cross 2nd Class (ARRC) awarded to Major Iris Frazer, RNZNC, 1969 silver cross, 35 mm width, plain ring suspension, with ribbon; Obverse- enamelled red, with broad silver edges around the enamel; a circular medallion bearing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. Reverse- circular medallion bearing the Royal Cypher of the reigning monarch (ERII), as well as the words "Faith", "Hope" and "Charity" inscribed on the upper limbs of the cross, with the year "1883" in the lower limb, "1965" engraved beneath ribbon- 32mm wide grosgrain, dark blue with crimson edge stripes |

| Notes | Royal Red Cross 2nd Class (ARRC) Major Iris Frazer, RNZNC Major Iris Frazer, ARRC (1915-2001) New Zealand Army Nursing Service , Royal New Zealand Nursing Corps Iris Frazer trained at Waikato Hospital, graduating in 1940. She worked in hospitals at Opotiki, Kawakawa and Whangarei before joining the New Zealand Army Nursing Service in December 1944. During 1945 Iris served on HS Maunganui and with 5 NZGH at Bari, Italy. She then joined 6 NZGH in Florence, and served with that unit in Japan from March to August 1946 when she returned to New Zealand. Over the next three years Iris worked in a number of hospitals in New Zealand and Australia before rejoining the Army in 1950 serving at various army camps, and finally becoming Matron at Papakura Camp Hospital in January 1960. Following her retirement from the Army Iris Frazer continued to tutor at civilian hospitals. Her medals include the Associate Royal Red Cross (awarded 1969), the New Zealand Service Medal 1946-49 Occupation of Japan, and the 1953 Coronation Medal. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
