Title
Medieval silver ring seal detail
Description
English: A late medieval or early post-medieval silver signet ring which has been broken into two pieces so that the hoop is now separate. The hoop is cabled along the back, widening to three horizontal grooves in the shoulders. The bezel is oval and shows a stag's head with the letter I between its antlers. The ring would have formed the personal seal of a local nobleman.

The finger ring is silver and dates from the late fifteenth or early sixteenth centuries. Consequently, in terms of age and as the object contains a minimum of 10% precious metal it qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996.
