Schematic section of a late 19th- early 20th-century military trench, with parapet, parados etc

Summary[edit]

Description
English: This image uses terminology in the British Manual Of Field Works All Arms 1925, It represents a simplified version of a "normal" or "cross" section of a trench such as one might have seen in WWI on the Western front.[1] It illustrates several technical terms, but many of these varied greatly in usage, and they should not be taken as definitive.

This military technology image could be re-created using vector graphics as an SVG file. This has several advantages; see Commons:Media for cleanup for more information. If an SVG form of this image is available, please upload it and afterwards replace this template with {{vector version available|new image name}}.

It is recommended to name the SVG file “Military trench schematic, showing parapet, parados etc.svg”—then the template Vector version available (or Vva) does not need the new image name parameter.
