Template:BadJPEG

All images in this template were uploaded in the JPEG format even though it consists of non-photographic data. This information could be stored more efficiently or accurately in the PNG format or SVG format. If possible, please upload a PNG or SVG version of this image without compression artifacts, derived from a non-JPEG source (or with existing artifacts removed). After doing so, please tag the JPEG version with {{Superseded|NewImage.ext}}, and remove this tag. This tag should not be applied to photographs or scans. For more information, see {{BadJPEG}}.

After doing so, you could please in certain cases

1. Find all pages in all Wikimedia projects that use this image, and replace the old image with the new image in each.
2. Mark this image by adding one of these templates (Note: Be sure to read Deletion policy/Redundant/bad quality).
3. And/or you can add a {{delete}} template, if you have a specific, detailed rational reason, add the image to the Commons:Deletion requests page (See Commons:Superseded images policy, superseded is not automatically a reason to delete).

This template is based originally on en:Template:BadJPEG, the corresponding template with the same purpose at the English Wikipedia.

The template automatically sets the following categories: Category:Images with inappropriate JPEG compression, a subcategory of Category:Images for cleanup, if the filename ends in .jpg or .jpeg (if it doesn't, it categorises into Category:Files incorrectly marked as BadJPEG).
