Thenthe four folding machines come in the order, Inglenook folder, Mes-senger folder, book folders. The north side of this room has the stitchingmachines. Going to the third floor and passing all the editorial rooms, one viewof the back composing room is given. This shows the two job presseswhich are able to do the best kind of job work. In fact the House now andthen loses a job of printing minutes or other work from among the Breth-ren simply because the ideals of clean, clear cut and tasty printing alongwith good material so thoroughly enters into the product of the Houseas to make the price too high. Printing, too, has its high mark ofexcellence and here is where the ideal is sought, if anywhere. Just one more view,—last but far from being the least important,—the linotype room. Men have stood by andwatched the operators play the keys, just like on a typewriter, have fol-lowed the process of the machine itself making a line of reading matteras seen in any of our periodicals or as seen on this very page, have watchedthe long arm pick up the matrices from which the line is made, and notedhow each one was put back again in its place and seen how thoroughlyeach machine does its own work all by itself,—the operator touching thekeys and pulling a lever when the line is complete,—and gone away saying, Well, if these machines do not speak, they come very near thinking forthemselves.
