Description |
English: A British Historical Medal commemorating the 1814 Treaty of Paris, signed on 30 May 1814, which ended the war between France and the Sixth Coalition, part of the Napoleonic Wars. The medal depicts Louis XVIII on one face with the legend VIVE LE ROI / LOUIS XVIII, and says: PEACE / 1814 within a wreath on the other, with the legend: THE GLORIOUS RESULT OF BRITISH PERSEVERANCE around. The medal is pierced at 12o'clock and this type is catalogued as number 811 in British Historical Medals by T Kettle. The Louis face is very worn on this example. |
