Description

Motorcycle with modified sidecar for filming chase scenes for the series Covert Affairs. Some portion of the show is filmed in Toronto, pinch-hitting for Washington DC. Some portions seem to be filmed on location in exotic locales, while other portions seem to be actually filmed in DC. As television productions go, Covert Affairs seems to use an unusually large crew. Last year a motorcycle adapted to serve as a film dolly was parked outside my neighbourhood deli, and I had a chance to take a good look at it. But I didn't have my camera with me. Interestingly, it used a different design than this one.

I only got off the one shot of this vehicle. It mounted an adapted side-car, with a crew of two. The front guy was sitting with his butt right on the platform, holding the camera. I don't know what kind of motorcycle this was.

The motorcycle in last year's vehicle was a big old Harley-Davidson. It was mounted in a kind of pipe-frame scaffolding, with big castors, that was carrying a much bigger camera than this one.

Maybe the rear guy was the director, or director of photography. Interestingly both he and the driver are wearing gloves, but the photographer isn't. Look closely and you can see that the photographer is wearing shorts, and what looks like a knee brace on his outside knee. It looks like health and safety of photographers is not a high concern.
