Summary[edit]

Description
English: Sometimes it's nice to just curl up in a patch of sunlight and take a nap. This red fox found a nice snow-free spot near Longmire and decided to do just that. A fox's large fuzzy tail acts like a built in fur-scarf, keeping the face of the fox warm when sleeping. The tail is also used for balance when hunting.

Usually, foxes are reclusive animals, rarely spotted by people. However this particular fox was filmed because it has become "food-conditioned" from people feeding it. This means that it lingers in developed areas hoping for more handouts as well looking for food around garbage areas or even in the unattended belongings of visitors. This behavior can be dangerous for the health of both visitors and the fox. While seeing wildlife can be a special treat, please do not feed them. To learn more about keeping wildlife wild please visit the park's website at http://www.nps.gov/mora/planyourvisit/keep-wildlife-wild.htm.

Filmed early April, 2012.
