nci)ial )iropert.\-, known as the Tough-Oakes Claim, is now being opened up by Clement A. Foster. The propertyconsists of five claims aggregating 185.6 acres. The claim on which the work isnow being done is in the township of Teck, close to the Lebel line, 7 miles north-east of Swastika. Five veins have been located but it is the ISTo. 2 vein that isnow supplying the ore. Two shipments have been made from an open cut on thisvein. The first shipment consisted of 52 bags weighing 3,785;^Ibs., and assaying18.6 ounces gold per ton. The second shi)nnent which went to the smelter inJanuary. 1913. weighed 19.77 tons, and assayed 22.509 ounces gold per ton, ora total gold content of 445.16 ounces. This Xo. 2 vein has been opened upfor a length of 450 ft., but the ore has been taken Il-oin an open cut 55 ft. longand 14ft. dee)i. 24. T. AXD X. 0. EAILWAY Xo. 70 is not far from a mass of feldspar-porijliyr), which is probably tlie source of thegold, or at least the cause of the introduction of the gold. A 5-stamp mill hasbeen ordered and is expected to be delivered at the mine in good time before thebreak-up. The mine is reached at present by a good sleigh road from SwastikaStation. The other most noteworthy properties in this district are the Oakes, iheHughes and the Costello. The country has been staked for miles around, andthere are many prospectors in the district, and development has been quite en-couraging. Larder Lake. One property, the Goldfields Limited re-started operations in the latterpart of the year, on the completion of its 30 stamp mill. This is the only operat-ing mill in the Larder Lake district. It derives its power from the companys ownhydro-electric installation at Eaven Falls, to the south-east of Larder Lake. Good reports are coming in from the township of Gauthier, and one plantis goino;
