The S. A.T.C. Early in the fall of 1918 the Southwestern Normal sent out invitationsto the young men of high school standing to join the unit of the StudentsArmy Training Corps to be formed at this institution. As a result of thisinvitation an organization was formed that rapidly gained the reputation ofbeing the best S A. T. C. in the state. That it was superior to all othersin the state is now generally asserted by state officials and those who hadtthe best opportunity of judging. The barracks provided for the men was in every respect suiied for thapurpose, and afforded all conveniences that could be desired, includingsteam heat, electric light, baths, reception room and study room. The special courses offered by the school for the benefit of the S. A. T.C. fellows was highly appreciated by them and the efforts of all the teach-ers, in their behalf, endeared the school to every member of the organiza-tion. The men, however, were especially fortunate in the splendid officersand drill
