Au premier plan, la Maison pour tous dans l'exposition du pavillon national du Japon Sujet de l'exposition : "Architecture possible here? Home-for-All" ou L'architecture après la catastrophe causée par le Tsunami La ville de Rikuzentakata a été totalement détruite par le tsunami qui a ravagé le nord du Japon en 2011. Les maisons en bois ont été balayées et il ne reste rien du passé de la ville. Comment redonner espoir aux habitants survivants et les aider à se rencontrer alors qu'ils sont hébergés dans des bâtiments temporaires exiguës ? Trois architectes et un photographe se sont associés pour proposer la construction d'une "Maison pour tous" afin de permettre aux habitants de retrouver un peu de leur communauté perdue. La construction utilise des billots de cèdres provenant des parties de la forêt entourant la ville qui ont été submergées et qui ont du être coupés. Le pavillon du Japon met en scène ce projet en recréant un espace à partir des billots et blocs de bois. Le pavillon a été primé par le jury de la Biennale.
