assumed an exceedingly abnormal shape. His neck had becomevery much thickened. The natural grooves at either extremityand either side of the sterno-cleido-mastoid muscle were filledout. The supra-sternal notch, the infra- and supra-claviculardepressions were similarly filled out and obliterated. Theneck looked like a round, roughly-cut wooden block, withoutcurves, without depressions. The upper part of the sternum, PEDIATRICS. 17 the manubrium and a part of the gladiolus were covered by alarge, bulging tumor. The tumor was soft, painless, not inthe least tender to touch, extremely elastic, yielding to theslightest pressure, but completely returning to its former shapeimmediately upon removal of such pressure.
