Title
Pewter medal, possibly an ecclesiastical devotional medal or a communion medal
Description
English: A pewter medal, probably a religious devotional medal of the type presented during first communion, or possibly commemorating an ecclesiastical event. Such medals have been in use since the medieval period and continue to be used today, although as this is lead it seems likely to be earlier than the 20th century. Unfortunately, the medal is too worn to determine what it commemorates, and so dating is not possible. One side is completely illegible, whilst the other appears to show a central figure, stood or possibly seated on a throne, with a standard or shield to either side. Lettering around the edge on this side is mostly illegible, although the possible letters OCTO may relate to OCTOBER. The medal measures 52.5 mm in diameter and is 3.9 mm thick. It weighs 36.5 grams.
