If this location (now known as Pioneer Square Park) was ever at all widely known as Occidental Square, the name was relatively short-lived. "Pioneer Place" was common, and rhere was a building southeast of the square called the Occidental Hotel; it had burned in the Great Seattle Fire of 1889. |
