Notes Boer pipe acquired by Lieutenant WG Wray during the Anglo Boer War. Presented by Major William George Wray who served as a lieutenant in South Africa with the 9th Contingent, NZMR (C Squadron) receiving the Transvaal and SA02 medal clasps. He later served in WW1 with the Otago Infantry and received a Military Cross for bravery during the the attack on the Switch Line, South-east of High Wood, on 15th September 1916, and attained the rank of Major. Major Wray died in Auckland on 10.6.1964
