Description
English: Turkey began a project soon after the discovery of the Piri Reis map to create full color scale prints. These were accompanied by a book providing brief notes and translations of the major inscriptions in modern Turkish, Italian, German, French, and English. This is the English language section written by Yusuf Akçura in the final years of his life.

Regarding copyright status in the United States: This is the English section from a booklet originally published in 1935 by TTK, written primarily by Yusuf Akçura. The copyright was restored via the Uruguay Round Agreements Act to TTK in 1996.

Regarding public domain status in Turkey: Akçura died in 1935, the colleague who helped transcribe the text, Hasan Fehmi Turgal, died in 1939. This scan is from the 1960s reprint which contains the same text as the 1935 printing, for the English section.
