Plitvice Lakes National Park is a national park in Croatia, located halfway between the cities of Zagreb and Zadar within a karstic plateau. It is at the same time the oldest of the national parks of southern Europe and the most extensive in Croatia. It was created on April 8, 1949 and added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1979. Within the confines of this highly wooded national park, 16 crystalline lakes are cascading and cascading. The mineral-rich waters dig the rock and deposit the tuff in constantly changing formations.
