English: Photographic portrait of Joaquin Miller standing in front of his home, "The Abbey", in Oakland, ca.1898. Known as the "Poet of the Sierras". He can be seen wearing a wide brimmed hat, jacket, trousers, boots, and leather gloves with a fringe. He has a long flowing white beard with moustache. His left elbow is leaning on his left leg which is raised with his foot on a step to the porch. Small trees and bushes grow closely around the house. Miller lived from 1837-1913 and was born Cincinnatus Hiner Miller. |
