Title
Post-Medieval Commemorative Medal
Description
English: Copper alloy Medal. Milled disc, possibly a commemorative or mourning piece.

Obverse description: Portrait bust of George IV (1820-1830) left. Drilled hole at 12 O'clock. A circumferential inscription in the style of a contemporary coin inscription is not readily legible, though the name GEORGE appears to be interrupted by the drilled hole.

Reverse description: Two figures by a casket tomb; to the left an angel or Victory stands bowed over it, and an armed and helmeted mourner kneels to the right with spear cast aside. A cantharus stands over the tomb. A three line legend inscribed on the tomb may read DEAD / [----] / 1840
