Post-Medieval Medal
Description
English: A worn copper-alloy medal or medallion commemorating Admiral Vernon and his victories at Porto Bello in 1739 AD. It measures 39.72mm in diameter and 16.59g in weight. This medal is of Post-Medieval date, c.1740 AD.

Obverse: HATH.ONCE.MORE.REVIV.D.T[HE].BRITISH.GLORY, in exergue THE.HON.EDWARD/VERNON.ESQ., Admiral Vernon standing three quarter facing, a tree to his left leaning right, to his right building. Above the buildings are the words FORT/CHAGRE and bvelow is a ship heading right.

Reverse: BY.THE.[TAKEING].OF.PORTO.BELLO.WITH.SIX.SHIPS.ONLY.NOV.THE.22.[1739], The attack on Porto Bello with the six ships arranged in two diagonal rows of three.
