||
Description |
English: A double-sided silver medal. One side of the medal is decorated by the left-facing, draped bust of King Charles I, moulded in relief. On the opposite side is a sketchy form of the Royal arms. A chain loop is located at the apex, with a single chain link still attached, with a second, smaller, loop at the base. Two decorative lobes project from halfway down the right- and left-hand sides respectively.
Dimensions: Height: 27mm Thickness: 1.6 mm Weight: 2.72g Discussion: Similar medals reported under the Treasure Act include 2008 T401 (DENO-F13D23) and 2010 T341 (LEIC-78E0B3). One is in the Victoria and Albert Museum: 92-1866, dated to between c.1640 and c.1670. Worn as tokens of allegiance to Charles I. Conclusion: This object constitutes potential Treasure under the Treasure Act 1996 as it is made of more than 10% precious metal and is over 300 years old. |
