Title |
Post-Medieval possible Medal fragment |
||
Description |
English: Lead alloy possible Medal fragment. An oval plate, or a circular plate with damage, with a bevelled edge around part of its border. A pair of gouges appear on one otherwise plain side, while the other is more irregular, and may indicate the loss of a design, possibly through burning. There is no discernible sign of any text. The material, form and condition suggest the identification offered; this object may relate to those cheap commemorative medals struck locally to mark significant national events. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1750-1900.
