Post-medieval to modern nutcracker
Description
English: An incomplete copper-alloy nut cracker arm of Post-medieval to early Modern date. The dating from the early modern period, c. 1700-1900 AD. The single point hinge survives, the receiving hinge would have been on the missing arm. The hinge has traces of iron corrosion. The arm tapers gently from the hinge down towards an acorn shaped molded terminal, in profile the arm is bent outwards slightly. The outer face is decorated with a nine vertical incisions, below this the arm is plain until the acorn molding. The inner face has eleven vertical incisions which run along the arm immediately below the hinge, below this the arm is plain

The artefact is 99.25mm in length, 9.45mm in width, 12.4mm thick at the hinge and weighs 23.5 grams.
