Rhabdonema intestinale.— This worm infests the duodenum andjejunum of man, but is harmless.In the parasitic form the adult femalealone is known. The worm has alsobeen demonstrated in fowls. It is a thin parasite, TV to -Jg-in. in length, and may be recognisedby the accumulation of five or sixeggs about the centre of its body(Fig. 32, b). The ova pass into theintestinal contents, and the contained embryos rapidly develop, the shellsare ruptured, and the young parasites dart hither and thither amongstthe faeces (Fig. 32, a).
