Group portrait of R and D Management Group in Foundation News, house journal of The Wellcome Foundation Ltd. Accompanying photography for article "Zovirax given go ahead on two new fronts". Zovirax was Wellcome's breakthrough drug for the treatment of herpes virus infections and was approved in two new formulations. Caption : Transatlantic collaboration programmes for the groups two major research sites at Beckenham and Research Triangle Park were among the main topics of discussion at the ninth group R and D management meeting. Also under review at the recent meeting were further developments in the Zovirax range and other potential products nearing the market. Chairman, Mr. A. J. Sheppard, joined the group for the final sessions to hear a summary of the discussions. Attending the meeting, which was held at Gravetye Manor, East Grinstead, UK, were group R and D director, Dr John Vane (seated, second right), and group technical director, Dr Ronnie Cresswell (seated, right). The other senior staff from both sides of the Atlantic were (seated from left), Dr James Black and Dr Pedro Cuatrecasas.
