Summary[edit]

Description
English: Recreation of the sound of the "Turkish stop" on early 19th century pianos, in which the soundboard was struck by a padded hammer. The builders of such pianos sought to imitate a bass drum.

Technique employed: lurk under piano, raise dampers by thrusting rod for damper pedal upward with right hand, strike soundboard with left hand covered with four socks. Edit sound file to use five copies of the best-sounding blow.

This was as drum-like as I could make it but is somewhat overloaded. Others are welcome to try to improve this result.
