Zu den bis zum Niedergang der gewerblichen Rheinfischerei genutzten Fangnetzen gehörten auch Tütebell, Geil- und Hamennetz. Deren Handhabung zeigt der Fischermeister Simon Wirtz für den Film. Das Geilnetz für den Aalfang gehörte zu den Hebenetzen, es wurde vom Dreibordnachen aus "abgefiert". Zum Fang von Weißfischen nutzten die Fischer die Tütebell, ein beutelähnliches Netztuch. Es wurde in "Sätzen", wie man die Fangmanöver nannte, ausgeworfen. Zu horizontalen Netzbewegungen wurden die Fische mit dem Scherhamen gejagt. Die Netze wie Zegen (s. o.), Tütebell oder Geilnetz setzte Simon Wirtz zuletzt zum Fang von Besatzfischen für Angelvereine ein.
