Summary[edit]

Description
English: Amazingly, the Koln was welcomed to Sydney with a 21 gun salute, although Hitler had been Chancellor of Germany for three months and only a week before this photograph was taken, had dissolved the trade unions and sent many leaders to concentration camps. The captain of the Koln had said the visit was not political and the goodwill they found on their visit to Australia and other countries was destroyed only a few years later.
