Summary[edit]
DescriptionSeattle - Eastabrook Block - 1900.jpg |
English: The Eastabrook Block / Second and Union—constructed by the Moore Investment Co." from brochure Seattle and the Orient (1900). But "Eastabrook" is a misprint. The Estabrook Block was built as an investment of G. Henry Whitcomb, Massachusetts envelope manufacturing millionaire, in honor of his wife, Abbie Estabrook Whitcomb. Baist's Real Estate Atlas Surveys of Seattle, Wash., G. Wm. Baist, Philadelphia, 1905, plate 2, shows the "Estabrook Block" at the southeast corner of Second and Union. Also, see File:Estabrook Building, southeast corner of 2nd Ave and Union St, ca 1904 (SEATTLE 123).jpg. This is now the northwest corner of Benaroya Hall (the symphony hall). Moore Investment Co. was J.A. Moore, best known today for the Moore Theatre and Hotel. |
