Railroad Avenue (now Alaskan Way) and Pier 14 (now Pier 70), Seattle, Washington, ca. 1935. Hamburg-American is now Hapag-Lloyd, but is long gone from the pier. Seawall construction under way. Pier 71 (Union Oil Dock, Pier 18) also visible here, at right. It was demolished as the shore north of Pier 70 was turned into parkland. Item 130395, Fleets and Facilities Department Imagebank Collection (Record Series 0207-01), Seattle Municipal Archives. Seattle Municipal Archives changed its URL scheme circa 2022; the older URLs beginning with "clerk" are deprecated, and will eventually fail. The following search should find item number 130395 in their new database:
