Description
English: In ten years I must have passed through this door more than 25000 times, locked/unlocked it 14,000 times. I returned to the door about 8235 times thinking I had not locked it, and 8235 times it actually was locked. I know I have removed it twice for sanding, repainting, always thinking I ought to take advantage of its natural wood texture (always bailed and painted). I replaced the lock a few times, added a deadbolt, put new hinges at least once, a new peephole once. I replaced the weatherstripping 3 times and never really got it optimal. I replaced the threshold underneath, the sweep, and added a kick plate on the front.

Yes, until today, I really never even noticed something I touched, interacted with daily.
Behind the door is both the past that is now torn, as well as the future I had thought it was leading too. On this side is unknown, some excitement (actually a whole lot of that), opportunity? a whole lot of mystery, but today, an unfathomable depth of sadness. My spirit rides lost between both sides of the door, but am definitely on this side, that has been done.
Look around you, and take notice of things (or people, or pets, or flowers) that you don't normally give attention. Breathe a few times and appreciate what is in your touch.

Even just a plain old door has history, and if you look it it carefully, meaning. It just needs someone to pay attention.
