Till klassicitetens människoframställning äro Lautrecs figurerden direkta antipoden. Ä ena sidan människan med ett oänd-ligt värde, en ren sinnlighet, höghet och mild värme: hvarje lemtalar om harmoni och lugn; å den andra ett försök att under-stryka människans oändliga värdelöshet: en oren impotens, låg-het och skarp iskyla talar ur de än uppsvällda, än sjukligt magraformerna. Åt allt detta vill Lautrec ge konstens värde, ochhan lyckas att för den, som har möjlighet att förstå, visa detpittoreska och gripande i den häxsabbat, som rör sig i vissadelar af de moderna storstäderna. Henri de Toulouse Lautrec har visser-ligen hört till medarbetarna i Le Courrier Frangais, men det väsent-liga i hans konst utgöres af litografier.
