Description
English: Heavy snow swept across southwestern China and northern North Korea in early February 2019, leaving the ground covered in white. The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on board NASA’s Aqua satellite acquired a true-color image of the winter scene on February 7.

The late winter snow also extended to western China, where blizzards in the high plateau of Tibet left thousands of livestock dead and the roads covered in up to 18 inches (45 cm) of snow, according to a report attributed to the Xinhua News Agency by The State, a newspaper published in South Carolina. China authorities were attempting to clear roads and bring delivery of supplies to the region.

The snows in the southeastern region were not nearly as severe, with media reports primarily showing people taking photos and enjoying the late-winter precipitation.
