Description |
English: Turkish spade, WW1 wooden handle; square metal blade; upper end of blade folded over and riveted on reverse; handle fits into metal socket riveted to blade and partly formed as an extension of the blade; short wooden handle ends in circular knob markings- 'HD' engraved on handle Spade found with label stating 'Turkish', but it is possibly German-made. The style of its manufacture with the upper end of the blade being folded over and riveted is characteristic of German manufactured shovels of WW1. |
