Parmele, a name already a household word with the medicalprofession of America, has still more and greatly endeared him-self to the doctors by his self-sacrificing and successful labors infighting that great evil, substituting something just as good inphysicians prescriptions. He is the author of the Page bill, nowa law in New York, making substitution a felony, and he fought itthrough the Legislature almost single-handed, opposed by powerfulinfluences—the combined money, strength and all sorts of under-handed tactics of well known substituters and grafters. Now letus take this New York law for the pattern, and get such an onethrough the Texas Legislature,—follow the braA^e and successfullead of Parmele the Peerless, who has ever championed therights of the medical men.

100 TEXAS MEDICAL JOURNAL. Trachoma Tiireatexing Texas.—On account of the preva-lence of trachoma aniong the numerous immigrants trying to getinto Texas via Mexico, Dr. G. W. Storer, of the P. H. and M. H.Service, has been sent to Texas to assist and instruct local physicianswho have to deal with them. The Xew State Pharmacy Board consists of Drs. W. H.Koberts, Jr., Denison; T. J. Snell, Cooper; W. P. Eobertson, Gon-zales; J no. Weeks, Bal linger, and Bruce Yerdenburg of Beaumant.The Board; met at Austin August 27th, and elected Dr. EobertsPresident; Dr. Eobertson, Treasurer, and Dr. E. H. Walker, ofGonzales, Secretary. Dr. Walker is the long-time secretary ofthe State Pharmacy Association, and is eligible though not a mem-ber of the Board.
