700 The American Florist. May 30, Chattanooga, Tenn. HOT, DRY WEATHER PREVAILS.—ROSE PLANTING.—VISITORS. Mrs. J. W. Crouch is planting two more houses to roses this season, one house 25x50 to Meteor and one house 26x150 to Brides and Bridesmaids. She has just finished planting one house 38x100 to Golden Gate, having still three houses for other varieties. We are now in the midst of the plant- ing season with hot, dry weather, which has been prevalent for two weeks past, the mercury having been flirting among the nineties for several days. Chrysan- anthemums at this place were benched about ten days ago. Visitors in town the past week were R. Irving, Mr. Gresham, of the Dahl Floral Company, Atlanta, and Dr. and Mrs. Howard, of the Atlanta Floral Company. Lawrence, Mass.—A. H. Wagland has had a large cold storage addition made to his establishment on Broadway. Burlington, Vt.—C. P. Jones was the victim of a furious assault by a hackman named Finnerton and a barber named Willis on May 18. The two aggressors w^ere arrested. NoRWALK, Conn.—Wm. Ziegler has added a large greenhouse to the other improvements on his place at Collender's Point. He recently paid $30,000 for the adjoining grounds of Wm. Finch. BEDDING PLANTS.
