law. T • q The Council of National _ T„. Defense has announced Our Wings the creation of an Air. craft Production Board, to be headedby Howard E. Coffin. The AircraftBoard will work in constant consulta-tion with the recently created jointarmy and navy board on design andspecifications, and its chief functionwill be to bring manufacturers together to produce a maximum outputof types of machines desired by theGovernment. Mr. Coffin believes thatAmerican factories can furnish about3500 air machines, including bothtraining and battle types, this year,and double this record the year follow-ing. Schools and training fields nowplanned will educate some six thousandaviators a year. Applicants have al-ready begun preliminary training atseveral universities and technical insti-tutions. Near Dayton, Ohio, a four-squadron aviation school has been lo-cated on a tract of twenty-five hundredacres. Captain Waring, of PanamaCanal fame, will be in charge of con-struction work at the field.
