Opposite thelower side of this peninsula a narrow range ofhills runs along close by the waters edge, with aTh B S^P ^* Browns Ferry. A road fromFerry opposite Chattanooga runs across the eme. neck of the peninsula to Browns Ferry, and thence continues nearly southward along adeep gorge between the narrow range of hills andthe base of Raccoon Mountain until, as it entersLookout valley, it curves westward and passesover a depression in Raccoon Mountain to KellysFerry. Over this same depression runs the wa-gon-road from Bridgeport to Wauhatchie in Look-out valley, and also the railroad from Bridgeportto Chattanooga.
