This work is in the public domain because it was published in the United States between 1929 and 1963, and although there may or may not have been a copyright notice, the copyright was not renewed. Works copyrighted before 1964 had to have the copyright renewed sometime in the 28th year. If the copyright was not renewed the work is in the public domain. No renewal notice found for the Newspaper Enterprise Association or The Ogden Standard-Examiner for items published in the year 1930. For instance I can find a renewal notice for the New York Times for this year. If you find a renewal notice under a variation of the name of the publication, or a successor name of the publication, or any other evidence to the contrary, notify me and I will delete this. Image suppliers like The Newspaper Enterprise Association and The Associated Press tended to not go through the expense of renewing copyrights on the thousands of images produced each year, and relied on controlling the original camera negatives.
