er a retreat to Nashville,a wise move, for had he been content to remain at Franklin,the fortunes of the day would have been changed very essentially, for Hood planted allhis artillery there thatnight, and thus, aidedby General Forrestscavalry, the victory ofthe day before wouldsurely have been turnedinto a defeat.
