Half a dozen steps downward from theterrace and conservatory bring you to thelevel of the outdoor garden, which has beencompletely rearranged. By the old schemeof immense plots it was difficult to examinemany of the inferior plants from the walks;now, however, these walks, laid concentricallyaround a pond in the center of the gardenwith radiating paths at intervals, separate 244 HARVARDS BOTANIC GARDEN AND ITS BOTANISTS.
